Former NFL Player is the Co-Owner of Inception Sports Performance

RJ Cobbs thought that everything was over for him the day that he got hurt while playing for the NFL.

Instead of giving up on his dreams, he found a way to still be involved in the game, and everyday motivates people to pursue their dreams.

The former NFL player for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants spends his days at the training facility of Inception: Athletic Excellence Center, where he is able to pass down the knowledge that he acquired throughout his life and football career.

Cobbs uses the techniques and athletic training that he acquired over the years to train boys and girls to succeed in their goals, says Cobbs.

“We do athletic training where we are just giving back the knowledge that we experienced throughout our lives”, says Cobbs.

Cobbs is very passionate about what he does and truly motivates his clients.

“The reason I wake up every morning to go to work is because my heart and the passion that I have for the game”, says Cobb.

Kids from all around North Jersey come to the facility to train on a daily basis at Inception with a variety of goals, and we want to make them great, says Cobbs.

“I like training with coach RJ because he is preparing me for the upcoming season with the [Morris Hills] Scarlet Knights, while also working on my speed and agility to improve my skills as a linebacker”, says Ray, a client at Inception.

As a football specialist Cobbs is able to help young players to achieve their goals in the sport.

“Coach RJ helps with me to improve as a quarterback with my mechanics and throwing, and he is also good with speed and agility”, says Luke, who has been training with Cobbs for a while now.

On top of teaching these children techniques that will hopefully help them succeed in the athletic part of their lives, Cobbs wants to make sure they thrive in every aspect of their lives, he says.

“I’m teaching life lessons”, says Cobbs.

“RJ is like a second father to me. He helps me train with my techniques while making me a better, strong player. There are no words to describe how good he is”, says JD, a client at the facility.

The passion that Cobbs has for football comes from a long time ago. Cobbs has been involved with football his whole life and knew in his heart that he was going to make it to the NFL, he says.

Mike Brady, a former childhood teammate who played football with Cobbs for many years describes him as a very engaging personality.

“We all knew from the time we were six years old that RJ was a special player. Besides his clear athletic talent, RJ was always a natural leader that kept the team motivated” says Brady.

Cobbs graduated with a BA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he was a standout football player at running back, wide receiver and defensive back.
