By

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ; - From the large fish bowls
at Stuff Yer Face to the Greek life presence at Olde Queens, Rutgers is home to
the most iconic college bars, students say.
Rutgers University is home to over two dozen
bars but one survey taken from students by The Tab, says only a few are among the most
popular with the drunk college crowd.
According to students, each of these bars have
their own unique qualities and their own reasons for showing up late into the
night, to have a beer.
Here
are Rutgers’ Top 3 Best College Bars From this list, according to Rutgers
students:
3.
Kellys Korner Pub and Grill
Kelly’s Korner Pub and Grill is the bar on
this list with the largest food menu and options, offering breakfast as early
as 7 am.
Which is why students say this is a packed
house on football game days.
Rutgers senior Andrew Yu says during game days
this is the best bar to be in because you can have breakfast with a beer. He
says he wakes up early before a football game because he can get stuffed and
get drunk at the same time.
The night time scene is pretty popular as well
according to students, with an array of alternative rock music.
Edward Gonzalez a Rutgers alumnus says this
the only spot in town where you can find some good alternative rock music which
makes it different from all the other spots.
“You just don't find this anywhere else,” said
Gonzalez.
2.
Scarlet Pub
Scarlet Pub is one of the most recognizable
bars on campus students say.
The owner a Lebanese immigrant called Naji is
the highlight of the bar who according to students, personally greets bar
attendees and even sometimes offers you a free shot if he likes you enough.
Pub has exclusive DJ’s that come to perform at
the bar every weekend night.
1. Olde
Queens Tavern
The bartender Eliana Francis told us she sees
generations of students come by the bar, especially on important occasions for
the university.
“We have been here for a long time so it’s
cool a dad who used to go here reliving their memories with their son who
currently does,” said Francis.
Rutgers senior Dorothy Dabal says this bar is
her favorite because it has mostly a Greek life clientele, which makes her more
comfortable because she is in sorority. She says being surrounded by her same
social group makes this bar her favorite.
Olde Queens also offers a free shuttle to
Rutgers football games directly from the bar.
